Hi, I’m Jade

I help families stay together with seasonal reality photoshoots…

Allow Me To Tell Your Story.

THE SKIN WE ARE IN

THE SKIN WE ARE IN

SKIN-1.jpg

SKIN.

One of the many things we share as human beings - We all have it.

Its purpose is to protect, regulate + provide sensation. Taking infinite forms of texture, color + shape, it evolves as time sculpts our lives.

Holding our true nature as our hearts beat, minds orchestrate, organs function, blood circulates, bones support, muscles motion, cells regenerate, lungs breathe, ears hear, eyes see + mouths speak.

Because of the skin we are in, we get to exist. Could this be a unifying factor in humanity instead of a separation?

HOW DOES THAT IDEA MAKE YOU FEEL?

As we are raising our children, this could be an opportunity to bring our perspectives to surface - knowing the influence we have on them. As I carry a new life inside of me, I am pulled to explore my conscious and subconscious discriminations based upon visual differences. I am also inspired to model, embody, and engage in a unified perspective of humanity. How I will have conversations with my children as they grow and develop their own observations, I am unsure, but I know its essential to do. To engage and talk about what we might see as a different form of humanity but to also share the importance of diversity and highlight the core qualities all humans share.

Racism is a topic often tiptoed around; there can be underlying judgments unexpressed or acted upon. I think it's important to question if discrimination is something you want yourself to carry? Or that you want to pass on to your children? As I reflected upon this, I distilled racism down to a perceived visual difference. We can see this separation expressed through any form of judgment base upon surface elements. I then thought about a puzzle and how each piece is like no other - yet essential in creating the beauty of the whole.

I then felt a direct link to all forms of human beings - unique expressions essential for the creation of the whole. I think so actively we must see, honor, respect, and celebrate our differences - the visual, the experiences, the interpretations, the stories. Still, I also feel we must take time to talk about what we share as Human Beings.

Like birds, all have feathers + fly.

Like fish, all have fins + swim.

Like trees, all have trunks + leaves.

We marvel in the different species and appreciate the beauty of their varying forms. Cant, we practice this for all of humanity?

No matter what shape you are in, what texture covers your true identity or color you are painted - aren't we all worthy of celebration?

WE GET TO BE HUMAN.

WE GET TO BE ALIVE.

That in itself is a miracle.

You, yourself are a miracle . . .

+ so is the person across the street.

Across the country.

On the TV screen.

+ the loved one that is your family.

And so I leave you grateful for taking the time to reflect. What feels aligned? What feels like the right perspective for you? Can you be the person you want your children to be?
